With return of key players, Milwaukee Brewers believe they can win

Milwaukee enters the 2014 season hoping to compete in a stacked National League Central. Aside from the Chicago Cubs, who could end up the worst team in the majors this year, the Brewers will jockey for position with three playoff teams from a year ago, including the World Series runner-up St. Louis Cardinals.
To gain ground on the Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates, you’d think you would need a flurry of off-season additions. Instead, Milwaukee General Manager Doug Melvin largely stood pat. His moves of any note were trading outfielder Nori Aoki to Kansas City for lefty reliever Will Smith, and signing pitcher Matt Garza to an incentive-laden, four-year deal worth $67 million, including $50 million guaranteed.
