ASU women’s basketball on rise after coach Charli Turner Thorne’s return from sabbatical

Charli Turner Thorne has her mojo back. This is bad news for future opponents, good news for a fan base hoping to see the Arizona State women’s basketball program become a national force again.
After being selected 10th in the Pac-12 preseason poll, the Sun Devils are ranked 19th in the country with pivotal games against No. 15 California and No. 4 Stanford coming up. They are gritty, entertaining and, yes, sometimes a little too “cardiac kids” for the coach’s liking, but a 6-0 record in games decided by five points or fewer suggests this group has the mettle for a successful season.
